For drive test preparation we would still suggest meeting your driving instructor at Geelong VicRoads, but from here that is a fine adjustment rather than an important call.

Only in a useful way. It means almost no through traffic, because nothing needs to pass through the suburb to get anywhere, so the residential streets are calmer than most. When we want busy roads and car parks, Bellarine Village and Newcomb Central are a minute or two away.

In the residential streets inside the boundary roads. They are quiet, level and almost entirely local, with room to stop and try again, which is close to ideal for a first driving lesson. There is a lot of it, so you never need to drive anywhere to find a good street.

They are one of the better things about learning here. Judging who goes first without a signal is a skill that a suburb full of traffic lights never really teaches, and St Albans Park is full of them, at speeds low enough to think it through properly.

Yes, once the basics are steady. Boundary Road, Coppards Road and Townsend Road carry the traffic around the suburb and bring proper turns across it, which is the natural step up from the quiet streets inside.

They come in later and they are worth the time. The ground falls away towards the Barwon on the southern side, which brings a bit of gradient into the driving, and the roads down there are quieter again outside weekends.
