Yes, for ordinary driving lessons. For drive test preparation we would suggest meeting at Geelong VicRoads instead, or booking a 90 minute driving lesson, because the travel takes around half of a 60 minute booking.

For the first driving lessons, yes, and not for long. The suburb is only about six hundred metres across, so a driving lesson crosses it in about a minute. What makes it work is the surrounding streets in Geelong West and Herne Hill, and the city a few minutes down the hill.

The residential streets inside the strip. Quiet, tree-lined and on a slope, so gradient control comes into the first driving lesson naturally. There are only so many of them, so we work outward as you are ready.

It is the busy road on the western edge and the natural step up. It carries the traffic through this side of Geelong, so turns across it need setting up well ahead and gaps chosen with the speed in mind.

They are an advantage. Manifold Heights sits on the rise west of Geelong, so pulling away on a grade, holding speed downhill and parking on a slant all get sorted early rather than being put off until later.

Yes, and it is the most valuable part of learning here. The run down brings roundabouts, one way streets and steady city traffic all at once, which is the kind of driving the roads around Geelong VicRoads ask for.

On the residential streets here to begin with, and on a slope deliberately since level parking is uncommon. We also use the neighbouring streets, because a suburb this size does not offer enough variety on its own.
