Yes, for ordinary driving lessons. Home, work or the shops on the highway all work. For drive test preparation we would suggest meeting at Geelong VicRoads instead, or booking a 90 minute driving lesson, because the travel takes around half of a 60 minute booking.

It is the most important road to be taught on here. The highway carries traffic between Geelong and the peninsula, so it is noticeably busier at weekends and through summer than on a quiet weekday, and turns across it have to be set up well ahead. Meeting it with a driving instructor beside you is a much better introduction than doing it alone.

The estate streets away from the highway. Wide, long sightlines and residents only, with the older streets nearer the highway offering kerbside parking to judge space against once you are ready.

It does, and it is worth using rather than avoiding. Leopold is on the way to the Bellarine, so summer and weekends bring caravans, boat trailers and unfamiliar drivers onto the highway. Driving both the quiet version and the busy version with a driving instructor is better preparation than only ever seeing one.

On the older residential streets where cars are parked along the kerb in a normal line. The newer estates have plenty of room and not always the parked cars, and it is the real gap between two vehicles the drive test asks you to judge.

The rules are identical and the conditions are a little kinder. Traffic is lighter than a Melbourne suburb and the testing office is closer than most of Melbourne manages. Geelong still has a busy city centre, so there is no shortage of real driving to prepare you.

An automatic licence covers you for automatic cars, which is what most people now drive.
