About 18.3 kilometres, or roughly 23 minutes heading south through Corio and into Geelong. Lara is spread out, so where you start moves that figure a little.

Yes, for ordinary driving lessons, and for a beginner the township roads are where you should be anyway. For drive test preparation we would suggest meeting at Geelong VicRoads or booking a 90 minute driving lesson, because at 23 minutes each way a 60 minute booking has very little left in it.

It is the most demanding piece of driving in the township and the most worthwhile. Station Lake Road, Patullos Road and Forest Road all meet in one place, so you are working out priority, watching more directions than a normal intersection asks for, and choosing the right moment to commit. We keep first driving lessons well clear of it and build up to it deliberately.

The residential streets away from the centre. Quiet, generous and with very little through traffic, so there is time to work through the basics, and enough kerbside parking on the older streets to start judging space.

For drive test preparation, yes, unless you are meeting us at the office. A 90 minute booking absorbs the travel and still leaves a proper hour on the roads around Geelong VicRoads, which from this distance is better value than shorter driving lessons that lose most of their time to the drive.

Yes. Lara station is a common meeting point for driving lessons, along with home and work. It suits anyone travelling in for a driving lesson rather than starting from a Lara address. For drive test preparation we would still suggest Geelong VicRoads instead.

On the older residential streets where cars are parked along the kerb in a normal line. The newer parts of the township have plenty of room and fewer parked cars, and it is the real gap between two vehicles the drive test asks you to judge.

Automatic. Driving lessons in Lara are in a small dual-control automatic, and that is also the car you would sit the Geelong VicRoads drive test in if your package includes it. An automatic licence covers you for automatic cars, which is what most people now drive. If you specifically need manual, tell us when you book and we will give you an honest answer on whether we can cover it.
