Driving Lessons Indented Head

Geelong VicRoads, at 180 Fyans Street, South Geelong. It is about 37 kilometres west of Indented Head and it is the closest office that conducts drive tests, so it is the one your driving lessons are built around.

About 37 kilometres, or roughly 37 minutes heading west along the Bellarine. That is the longest run to a testing office of any place we teach, and it is simply how far the peninsula sits from the city.

Yes, for ordinary driving lessons, and for a beginner the township roads are where you should be anyway. It changes completely once the drive test is the goal. At 37 minutes each way the travel is longer than the driving lesson, so we would suggest meeting at Geelong VicRoads or booking a 90 minute driving lesson.

For drive test preparation, yes, unless you are meeting us at the office. A 90 minute booking absorbs the travel and still leaves a proper hour on the roads around Geelong VicRoads. From this far out it is much better value than 60 minute driving lessons that are mostly spent on the road there.

It is different rather than harder, and the gap is worth naming. Car control comes along nicely on empty roads. Traffic does not: roundabouts, lane changes and busy intersections have to be taught rather than absorbed, because there is almost nowhere locally to absorb them. That is exactly what the driving lessons nearer Geelong are for.

A great deal, and it is worth using. Indented Head is quiet most of the year and fills with holiday traffic, boat trailers and caravans over summer, so the same roads behave completely differently. Driving both versions with a driving instructor beside you is better preparation than only ever seeing the empty one.

The township streets and the foreshore roads to begin with, where there is very little traffic and room to correct a mistake. From there the roads between the peninsula townships, and eventually the run into Geelong itself.

Yes, and from out here that is the part to plan for. The test is conducted on the roads around Geelong VicRoads, which are proper city streets with roundabouts and steady traffic. There is nothing mysterious about them, but they are nothing like Indented Head, so we build up to them deliberately.

Not really at home. The township has few long lines of kerbside parked cars, which is what the drive test asks you to judge, so your driving instructor builds that into the driving lessons closer to Geelong rather than leaving it to the last week.

Automatic. Driving lessons in Indented Head are in a small dual-control automatic, and that is also the car you would sit the Geelong VicRoads drive test in if your package includes it. An automatic licence covers you for automatic cars, which is what most people now drive. If you specifically need manual, tell us when you book and we will give you an honest answer on whether we can cover it.

With one driving lesson so your driving instructor can see where you are. Experienced overseas drivers usually need fewer driving lessons than they expect, and the gap is rarely car control.
