The drive starts and finishes at the office on Watton Street, and the early part stays in the quieter back streets nearby, around Greaves Street South and Cottrell Street, where a steep dip and the pedestrian crossing on the rise beyond it both need reading early. There isn't a fixed number. The outcome depends on three things:

• An immediate termination error (ITE) ends the test at that point.
• Critical errors are noted as the drive goes on. Up to one in Stage 1, or two across the whole test, still leaves you placed to pass.
• Smaller errors on individual tasks are recorded too, so driving consistently the whole way counts for more than any one moment.

Yes: the same driving instructor, and the same car, throughout. There is a good reason for it. Your instructor knows how you are progressing and what the next lesson needs to cover, so no time is lost getting reacquainted, and one consistent car means its size and biting point are familiar long before test day.

No. Parking is one of a number of manoeuvres assessed during the test, and struggling with it doesn't determine the outcome alone. It also improves quickly with the right approach, and most students find it becomes routine after a few driving lessons. The kerb is the thing to watch. Mounting it at any stage of the test is an immediate termination error, and parallel parking is a likely spot for it.

Decisions under pressure: gap judgement, early hazard reading and committing at intersections. Confidence underpins these more than technique, and a driving lesson on the VicRoads testing routes shortly before test day is the most effective way to build it.

It depends how hard the contact is. A light brush is not an immediate termination error, though mounting or striking the kerb can be. Accurate positioning through parking and turns is assessed either way, and your driving instructor works on it with you until it's second nature.
