Carlton VicRoads at 459 Lygon Street is a near identical distance south and takes closer to twenty minutes. Your driving instructor will confirm which suits you before your drive test is booked.

No. Essendon Fields does not conduct drive tests. The office is open and handles other VicRoads business, so it is genuinely useful for other things, but no drive test is booked or sat there. It is the assumption we correct most often on this side of the north west, because it is so close to Strathmore.

Time rather than distance. The two are almost exactly the same distance from Strathmore, but the run north to Coolaroo is around fourteen minutes while the run south to Carlton VicRoads is closer to twenty, because the traffic thickens the nearer the city you get. Six minutes each way is twelve minutes of your driving lesson.

If your days are already spent in the city. If you work or study in town, testing at Carlton VicRoads means preparing on roads you drive anyway and getting there is no extra effort on the day. The extra minutes matter less than being on familiar ground.

Yes for ordinary learner driving lessons, and pickup from home, work or Strathmore station is completely normal. For drive test preparation neither office is close enough for that to add up, so we would rather meet you at whichever one you have booked, or run a 90 minute driving lesson.

In the residential streets in the middle of the suburb, between Pascoe Vale Road and Bulla Road. They are quiet, gridded and have room to pull over, which is what a first driving lesson needs, and there is a lot of it within a few minutes of anywhere in Strathmore.

Yes, once the basics are steady, and it is the most useful road you have. It is multi-lane and busy for most of the day, and it runs both ways: north towards Coolaroo VicRoads and south towards the city. Whichever office you test at, you will have practised the drive to it.

It does along the western side. Bulla Road carries traffic to and from the airport land and the business park, so it is busier at particular hours than a road through a residential suburb usually would be. That makes it useful practice once you are ready for it.

Yes, and from Strathmore it is the arrangement we would suggest whichever office you choose. The driving lesson runs immediately before the drive test on the roads the testing officers use, so a long drive is not sitting between your preparation and your drive test. It is also the best price we offer.

Usually not the driving. It is the Victorian road rules first, then the local conditions: turning right across a multi-lane arterial, joining a busy road from a quiet street, and keeping left. We prepare you on the roads around whichever office you have booked.

It is a comfortable one, and having two offices to choose between is a real advantage. A quiet residential middle, busy roads on both edges and a station precinct for observation, with a testing office in either direction along Pascoe Vale Road.

The residential streets have ordinary kerbside parking and light traffic, which is where reverse parallel parking should start. Around the station and the local shops is the harder version, with traffic behind you, and we go there once the quiet streets have stopped needing any thought.
