About 4 Kilometres Away

From Safety Beach it is about 4 kilometres to Dromana VicRoads, roughly 6 minutes, heading south along the bay into Dromana. There is very little about that run that can go wrong, and outside the summer months almost nothing that can make it long.

Six minutes each way leaves close to fifty minutes of a 60 minute driving lesson in the testing area, which is about as good a position as any suburb we teach in gets. Pickup from home works properly here rather than merely being possible.

Safety Beach sits comfortably inside the ten minute mark, and at six minutes the question barely arises. Pickup from home, work or the marina is genuinely straightforward and costs you very little driving lesson time. Once your drive test is the goal we would still suggest meeting your driving instructor at Dromana VicRoads, 42 Collins Road, because then every minute goes on the roads the testing officers use. From here that is a small refinement rather than a change of plan.

Your driving instructor stays with you on test day and you sit the test in the same dual-control car you have been learning in.

Experienced learners: where we go next

Marine Drive and the roads around the marina next, where parked cars, pedestrians and vehicles towing boats bring observation into it, and where a fine weekend looks nothing like a Tuesday morning. Then Nepean Highway itself, holding a lane at speed with side roads joining along it and the limit changing as the built up part ends. The climb inland comes after that, where gradient and bends with shorter sight lines start to matter.

The run to your testing office

Dromana VicRoads sits about 4 kilometres south at 42 Collins Road, roughly six minutes along the bay. At that distance the travel argument barely applies, which is rare on the peninsula. Being picked up at home still leaves you close to a full driving lesson in the testing area, and meeting at the office simply makes a good position slightly better.
