It does. At three kilometres the roads around Kingsbury and the roads around Bundoora VicRoads are largely the same driving, so almost everything you practise is directly relevant. Learners further out lose part of every driving lesson simply reaching those conditions.

It is the busiest driving in the area and the most useful. Plenty Road is multi-lane with trams, carrying traffic between the northern suburbs and the city, and there is university traffic joining and leaving on the far side. Turning across it needs setting up well before the intersection, which is exactly what the drive test looks at.

The streets inside the suburb, away from Plenty Road. Quiet, residents only, and with cars parked along the kerb so judgement of space starts early. There are not many of them, so we move outward as you are ready.

For the first driving lessons, comfortably. After that the suburb has limited road, so we use the quiet streets deliberately and then move onto Plenty Road and towards the office earlier than we would elsewhere. That suits the drive test rather than working against it.

Only at the busy times, and it is worth practising in rather than avoiding. Term time brings buses, pedestrians and a lot of turning traffic around Plenty Road. Learning to be patient and read it is a real skill, and we pick the hour to suit your stage.

On the streets inside the suburb, where cars are parked along the kerb and there is no through traffic to hurry you. Once that is solid we use busier streets nearby, because a gap with cars waiting behind you is a different exercise.

Automatic. Driving lessons in Kingsbury are in a small dual-control automatic, and that is also the car you would sit the Bundoora VicRoads drive test in if your package includes it. An automatic licence covers you for automatic cars, which is what most people in Melbourne drive now.
