Yes, for ordinary driving lessons. Home, work or the Harp Road shops all work. For drive test preparation we would suggest meeting at Carlton VicRoads instead, or booking a 90 minute driving lesson, because at 15 minutes each way the travel takes about half of a 60 minute booking.

It runs diagonally through an otherwise square grid, so it meets the side streets at angles rather than right angles. That changes what you can see from a give way line and how long a gap really is. Once someone has shown you how to position the car and where to look, it stops being awkward, and it is a genuinely useful thing to have learned.

The residential streets either side of High Street, around Willsmere Road and the blocks towards the park. Quiet, gridded and with parked cars along the kerb, which is what a first driving lesson needs.

It is the natural step up. Harp Road crosses High Street at the shops, so there is kerbside parking, turning traffic and people crossing, at a scale that is manageable once the basics are in place.

Towards the river, yes. Kilby Road drops down to the flats, so there is gentle gradient work available when you are ready for it, without the steepness you would meet closer to the Yarra bends.

Yes. The shops at the Harp corner are a common meeting point for driving lessons in Kew East, along with home and work. For drive test preparation we would still suggest Carlton VicRoads instead.

On the residential streets off High Street, where the gaps between parked cars are real and there is time to take. Once that is solid, the kerbside parking around the Harp shops is the busier version and worth doing before test day.
