No. Broadmeadows VicRoads is closer to Jacana than anything else and it does not conduct drive tests. It stays open for other business, so it is genuinely useful for plenty of things, just not this one. Coolaroo VicRoads is barely further and it is where the test happens.

Yes, and at six minutes it costs you almost nothing. Home, work or Jacana station all work. For drive test preparation we would still suggest meeting at Coolaroo VicRoads, so the full hour goes on the assessed roads from the first minute.

For the first driving lessons, comfortably. The streets are quiet, there is enough rise and fall to teach gradient control and no through traffic to worry about. There is not a great deal of road though, so we move outward earlier than we would in a bigger suburb, which suits the drive test anyway.

The residential streets inside the suburb. Residents only, room to work, and enough slope that starting on a grade is sorted early rather than being put off.

Yes, once the quiet streets are comfortable. Pascoe Vale Road is the arterial this part of the north runs on, multi-lane with steady traffic, so it asks for lane discipline and turns set up well ahead. It is also the road towards the office, which makes it useful practice twice over.

Yes. Jacana station is a common meeting point for driving lessons, along with home and work. It suits anyone travelling in for a driving lesson rather than starting from a Jacana address. For drive test preparation we would still suggest Coolaroo VicRoads instead.

On the streets inside the suburb, where cars are parked along the kerb and there is no traffic to hurry you. Once that is solid we use busier streets nearby, because a gap with cars waiting behind you is a different exercise from a gap on an empty road.

Automatic. Driving lessons in Jacana are in a small dual-control automatic, and that is also the car you would sit the Coolaroo VicRoads drive test in if your package includes it. An automatic licence covers you for automatic cars, which is what most people in Melbourne drive now. If you specifically need manual, tell us when you book and we will give you an honest answer on whether we can cover it.
