Yes, once the quiet streets are comfortable, and it is the most valuable road in Fawkner to be taught on. Sydney Road has kerbside parking outside the shops and people crossing between parked cars, all on the same stretch. None of it is difficult once you have been shown where to position the car, and it is far better learned with a driving instructor beside you.

The residential grid between the railway and the Merri Creek, including the streets running off Jukes Road and Box Forest Road. They are wide for an inner suburb with long sightlines, which is close to ideal for a first driving lesson.

It is one of the more straightforward ones nearby, mostly because the quiet streets and the busy road are cleanly separated. You can spend the early driving lessons in the grid without meeting through traffic, then step onto Sydney Road when you are ready rather than being forced onto it from the start.

Yes. Fawkner station is a common meeting point for driving lessons, along with home and work. It suits anyone travelling in for a driving lesson rather than starting from a Fawkner address. For drive test preparation we would still suggest Coolaroo VicRoads instead.

They are the natural middle step. Both run east to west across Fawkner with steadier traffic than the side streets and turns across it, so they are where you start making decisions in traffic before taking on Sydney Road.

On the residential streets in the grid, where cars are parked along the kerb in a normal line and there is room to take your time. Once that is solid, the parking outside the Sydney Road shops is the harder version and worth doing before test day.
